It is that time of year again and the Wausau Curling Club is getting ready for another great season. And no season can truly kick off without our annual Learn-To-Curl events!
This year we are holding two Pre-Season Learn-To-Curl Events that are open to the public on Oct. 14th and Oct 21st. All participants must pre-register by signing up on the event page for the date you want to attend or by contacting Tucker Diedrich at 715-573-1959.
At these sessions, participants will get a tour of our state-of-the-art curling facility, learn about the history of the game, and get out on the ice to learn the great game of curling.
While on the ice, participants will learn:
- How to stay safe while walking up and down the ice and delivering the stone.
- How to properly delver a stone.
- How to put the “curl” in curling.
- How to properly sweep a stone.
- How general gameplay works and how to score and end.
Participants will learn from our current members, who learned how to curl from members, who themselves learned from members. Each group will have a dedicated instructor to help them out throughout the day.
Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the club, learn about our memberships and the types of leagues we have to offer.
Sign-ups start soon and are limited to 54 people. We can also offer instruction on stick curling by request. Cost for the event is $10/person.
If you are a current member and would like to volunteer, please watch for a posting in our member portal.
