Canadians and Wausau Curlers to face each other Nov. 10
Wausau , WI – The Wausau Curling Club will host one of the curing matches between Canadian and American curlers in the Can-Am Cup of Curling, Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Wausau Curling Center.
The competition will feature 20 of the best men curlers from Canada against a team of men selected from the Wausau Curling Club.
Curling will begin at 1 p.m. and the public is invited to attend and watch the games live from the local club’s large spectators area. There is no charge for admission. The competition will also be streamed live on the Wausau Curling Club’s You Tube page.
The Can-Am Cup of Curling was started in 2019, when a U.S. men’s team toured 23 curling clubs in eastern Canada, playing a total of 112 games. U.S. and Canadian curlers have agreed to hold the competition every five years, alternating between U.S. and Canadian curling sites. The matches are patterned after the reciprocal U.S. and Scottish women’s curling tour.
This year, the Canadian curlers will visit curling centers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, playing a total of 107 games. The final match will be held Nov. 19 at the Detroit Curling Club.
Scoring is cumulative, meaning scores from all games throughout the tour are totaled, with winner scoring the most points overall. In 2019, the U.S. team was victorious, 623 to 613.
The 2024 Canadian team includes curlers from Alberta, British Columbia, NW Territories, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, PEI, Ontario, and Quebec.
The Wausau Curling Center is located at 1920 Curling Way on Wausau’s southeast side.
